Rooster Round-UP

Rooster Round-UP...

is where we take any unwanted poultry of cockerels 5 weeks or older and old laying hens.

Bring your unwanted poultry to us the second Saturday of every month at the designated drop off times. Please respect drop off times as we work and have neighbors.

Place your poultry in a cardboard box with shavings. For the safety of all we do not transfer birds from crates to boxes here, so please have them ready to go in their boxes with shavings. If multiple roosters have grown up together and get along feel free to put them together.

Breed and temperament determines what happens to your roosters. Sweet, purebred roosters from excellent lines are quarantined, given a veterinary exam and then re-homed. Rooster with a history of attacking humans goes for food. Due to liability we cannot re-home a rooster that has attacked a human. Those roosters are processed and donated to families in need in Foresthill who were affected by the mosquito fire last year.

Drop off is usually the second Saturday of every month.

Donations gratefully accepted!

The cost of this project can be expensive, particularly the quarantining and veterinarian costs for the fortunate birds that are able to be re-homed, and we want to have the best outcome possible.

Any amount you can donate is welcome.

Thank you in advance!
